You should probably start by telling us what condition the car is currently in and what your intentions are with the car. Otherwise, you start by looking at safety issues, if the car is drivable and move towards cosmetics.

Do you have any idea why the previous owner removed the fuel injection?

Sorry, the car is in decent condition as far as I can tell. I gave the guy 5000.00 and was able to drive it home. It runs kinda rough and backfires some. There is no AC but it looks like it may have had it at one time because there are some lines running up to the pass side fender. There is no oil cooler. I just dont know where to start, or how far I should go on it ( money wise ). I would like to do a C2 conversion, that it why I bought the car in the first place. Can I get the 2.4 to run decent or should I look for a 3.somthing?

As far as I understood, the early 73`s came with carbs and the later came with FI...

Don't think so. I believe the last year for carbs was the 71T. For the T, in 72 they went with mechanical injection and changed to CIS halfway through 73.

If you have a '73T, why would you want to convert it to a later model? The early 911's are the prettiest and should be appreciated for what they are. If you need a C2 or C4, save the $ and buy a real one.
By the way, '73 911Ts had MFI until about halfway through the production run. After that, they went to CIS. If yours has carbs, they must be aftermarket. |

What you really need to do is check engine and chassis numbers for compatability. You may find that the engine you THINK you've got isn't exactly what's fitted........

I might be wrong here.....Sure have been in past.....But I was sure the early 73 911T with the 911/57 motor came with Zenith carbs...(Which mine does).....That the 911/51 had MFI......And the 73 1/2 911 with motor 911/91 had CIS......Please correct me if im wrong?

I'm pretty sure that all 1973 911Ts came from the factory with fuel injection, mechanical in the beginning of the model run, and CIS by the end.

No way Jose...the last Zenith seen on a "T" was in '71, at least here in the US. After that they came with mechanical fuel injection which you either love or hate, no inbetweens here.
And of course, CIS appeared on late 73 T's. Joe [This message has been edited by stlrj (edited 12-08-1999).] [This message has been edited by stlrj (edited 12-08-1999).] |

I guess I've been proven wrong before too. Big-D is very right. The 72-73 ROW cars (engine 911/57 and 911/67) used Zenith TIN's. (Webers came on 69T's and 914/6's)
Not_sur, you might want to check your engine number. If you can find your engine serial number (on the right vertical surface of the fan housing) the engine type number will be hiding on the horizontal surface behind the serial number. If it's not a 911/57 (67 was for Sportomatics), then post it. Someone can look it up. [This message has been edited by Tim Polzin (edited 12-08-1999).] |

I had a 73T with a 2.4L MFI (numbers matched). I converted the car to 930 look, modified the suspension, and replaced the MFI with webbers. This is the look I wanted for much less $$$. The car was an absolute blast to drive. I sold that car and puchased a perfect one owner 78SC. I converted that car to C2 Turbo look with a 3.8 GT2 tail. Slight mods to the 3.0L and this thing really flies!! Bottom line - do what you want, go wild or mild, you'll have a blast and learn a lot!
