When I installed the bar for the 5 point harness in our 1987 model, I noted the place where the bolt on upper belt atachment went on the window pilar had a blind nut inside the pilar? There should be a way to install one of these on each side? I imagine there is an update kit that does this, try PP, Automotion, Simpson or a company that sells belts and such.

FYI I have a 77 targa that's been through an extensive conversion process to look like a 91 SC convertible. The shop I bought it from did not include the seat belts in the package. I found out though that the rear seatbelts out of my 89 325 IS worked fine as a replacement. The only issue being the belt mechanism doesn't retract, so basically I have them preset. This cost me 0$ and saved me a load since no one uses the rear seatbelts in my old 89 anyway.

Check out www.peparts.com; they sell retrofit retracting belts. Lucas Valdes can tell you all about your car.
I bought a set of front belts for my '71 911T but haven't installed it yet (waiting to reupholster my seats). My car has a threaded hole underneath the rear window that the inertia reel mounts to. It is currently plugged by a bolt which you unscrew from the rear wheel well, about 12" in front of and 12" above the rear hub. You then bolt in the new belt hanger on the door pillar, and replace the belt receiver in the seat with the one provided in the kit (which looks like a generic Audi receiver - not as pretty). The only question is whether you have that hole for the inertia reel in your '68. |
