72 Clutch cable routing

Finishing off a rather long restoration on a 72 Targa and need help sorting out the correct routing for the clutch cable and position of the clutch release fork. The car was purchased without engine and trans so I have never seem the correct installation locations. PET shows a support clip for the cable but I don't know where it mounts or if the cable arches upwards towards the bottom of the car or ?

Trans is a 76 so it does not have the standard support for the clutch cable outer housing built into the trans casting as this trans would normally have the helper spring/release arm. This was solved with a custom bracket which located the clutch cable to where I thought it should go based on manual pics. The actual release fork arm is from a 72 so should be correct.

The problem I am having is that I do not have enough travel in the clutch cable to disengage the the clutch. I mounted the correct shift fork arm as per factory manual specs but I only have approx 5/8 " travel in the clutch cable before contacting the outer housing. It actually seems the clutch cable outer housing is too long. (Or then end is positioned incorrectly - most likely) The cable is properly seated at the body so I don't think this is the problem. I did get a quick look at another 72 and the travel seemed to be in the order of 3/4 - 1".

My question is simple, does anyone have a 72 currently in the air that they could take a pic of the clutch cable routing and release arm mounting. A tape measure held up to the arm/ cable etc at the same time would help greatly.

Thanks
Chris

Chris-
Here's one I found showing the clutch fork orientation on a '72.
You can see it just ahead of the hard oil crossover line.

I'll try to find some better ones in the a.m.

Mike:
Thanks helps some but the Pic shows the arm etc but what I need to get a handle on are the actual dimensions. That is, where is the arm in relation to the bell housing and where is the end of the clutch cable housing in relation to the bell housing. As one moves the end of the clutch cable (outer) this of course influences the length of clutch cable travel. Remember my trans does not have the support web for the end of the clutch cable and I had to manufacture a bracket to support it at the correct position ?
