What style/color fuchs would you get?
 

I'm going to be in the market for some Fuchs wheels to replace my cookies--want to up-size to 16" anyway.

So what would you do? Color-match the talbot yellow? Black?

Lastly, should I just keep an eye out on the bb on pelican and rennlist to find the wheels or somewhere else? Thanks for the advice and help. Attached is the best picture I have showing the color/wheels...pitiful. I know.

IMO, anodized or polished paddle Fuchs.

I think the black/annodized lip stock finish would look great on that car.

To me, depend on the car/color. For that yellow of yours, I would get black spokes and chrome or polish lips.

I second Anthony's opinion on the stock black/polished combo for your car; the classic look of the wheels will match the classic look of your car!

I'm always partial to the polished paddle/black accent look on Fuchs.

I don't care for the blacked-out centers.

This might sound a little weird, but why get rid of the cookie cutters? I know that a lot of people are in love with the Fuchs, but if the cookies came stock on the car, I would keep them.

They make the car look unique. If you are going for a different look then maybe you could experiment and paint all but the rims the same color as the body.

The cookies time stamp the car, but I think they add to it's charm. Just a thought.

cygtoad: did you put some color on the wheels? My have been inadvertant but looks interesting. As to keeping the cookies, that was my first instinct as i really wanted to keep the car stock. But I simply can't get past the classic look of the fuchs. Not totally convinced though. I'd like to see some fuchs on the car...J

I color corrected the centers to match the body color.

Let me see if I can slap some fuchs on for you.

Perhaps a dumb question but heregoes: Why do people dislike the cookie cutters so much? I think the Fuchs are great wheels, but I never had a bad reaction seeing cookie cutters.

I think they look bad in yellow, though. They don't seem to be meant for color.

I have a preference for keeping things stock, myself.

I went through the same dilemma, fuchs/cookie cutter/fuchs/cookie cutter and ended up getting some fuchs. They definetly tart up the car though. I remember seeing my first Porsche probably 35 years ago and the memory is of the wheels - fuchs. Love that look so I had to get some. Expensive though, keep the cookies just in case you want to trade up some day. Ditto for Jason Cullen, he is good to deal with. I bought on ebay and some time later found a small imperfection that I had not noticed earlier. Jason replaced the wheel no problems.

Maybe it is the name "cookie cutter". Makes you think of something cheap, doesn't it? I don't know much about these wheels or why they are called cookie cutters. Maybe they even cost Porsche more, who knows. I think I have seen them on some water coolers.

All I know is that I don't see a lot of them out there, so I think it is kind of cool to have something different and still have it be stock.

So forgive my ignorance (really) but is this what would have been stock on the car in 79? I confess to being a little confused about all the different types of Fuchs--I've done some searching but haven't figured it out yet.

My two "first" memories of 911s were a gulf blue SC (I think) with driven by my high school history teacher and a viper green-like 911. Both had Fuchs. The cutters are unique; but they are a bit dull and the wheels don't stand up to the paint, if you know what I mean.

Go all black with the cookies! That would be EVIL!!!!

The ATS Cookie Cutter was the standard wheel for the 1973 911 E and later the SC. It was availiable in black, chrome or custom color.

The classic Fuchs were extra. They may not have been top of the line, but they weren't steel wheels either.

It is going to cost a few $$, but your car is begging for 7&8" Fuchs with black centers and anodized or polished lips. If you really have the chedder, I would go with 7&9's. That is what I have and I could not be more happy. My 9's came new from Jason Cullen. You could not deal with a nicer, more informed, or fair person.

Trust me on the black centers. That yellow car will look SWEEEET!

So Mike, you're talking totally blacked out Fuchs? Do you have pix of your car with 7/9's? I'm thinking that's a bit much for a regular SC but open to looking at it.

So far I'm leaning to the matte paddles with black back--sorry, don't know the correct terminology and simply can't figure it out after having searched through many threads about fuchs....Jack
