Bosch CDI box, Pelican Rebuilds
My Bosch CDI box may be kaput and if so I would like to have it rebuilt. Pelican rebuilds them for a few hundred dollars. Does anyone have any experience with our host's rebuilt CDIs? Are they sent out somewhere?
Thanks

randy,
Thanks. I talked with Glen at Pelican and the turn-around is about five days. I think he said that they are sent out. He also said that your box is not the one rebuilt but it is exchanged for an already rebuilt one ($100 core charge). Pretty much what I figured.

Since we're talking about CDIs and the experts have chimed in, I have a quick question. Is it good practice to ground the CDI box from one of the mounting points to a chassis ground with a separate wire? I'm running 2 6-pin CDIs with my twin plug setup but haven't grounded the boxes aside from the contact made by the screws to the body.
Apologies for the hijack. |

I'm not an electrician but I believe there are already two grounds, at least. There is the ground in the harness (the brown wire in the 6-pin plug), plus the box is grounded by virtue of being bolted to the chassis. My hazy recollection also has a ground strap associated with the mounting, but that recollection is, as I say, hazy.
