What is this hose and why is it leaking???
Well I seem to have found another oil leak! There is a hose that hangs down right above the HE. It is bolted to the back of the oil cooler. Does anyone have an idea what this is for and what I can do to stop the leaking? It doesn’t drip like a valve cover leak it is almost like a vapor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks By the way thanks again for the recommendation to Kerry Singley. They did the rear-end alignment and diagnosed another problem I had. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1152874833.jpg |
A bigger picture would be helpful. I can't tell the location of the hose in that picture.

Yeah I tried to get a larger one but its in a tight place. The top of the hose looks like it goes up towards the top of the engine. I checked the oil pressure switch and it is not leaking from there, but that is the general area. I was thinking it might be connected to the crankcase breather cover???
Thanks |
Without having my car to look at I can't help. It may be a "road hose". Semi trucks have used them for years to let the crank case pressure relieve itself into the atmosphere. Can you follow the hose and find where it goes up top?

Yeah I plan on checking it when I get home from work. The car was too hot last night to dig around in there. Thanks for your help I guess we are the only ones awake.

I think its this hose/container his picture is showing.

YES thats it! Do you know where its supposed to go and what it does?
Thanks |
Cool. Thanks Magnus.

Is it supposed to be re-directed somewhere? It drains directly onto the heat exchanger!
Thanks |
Unless I am missing something not sure how that hose could be with the air box???
Any Help?? |
how can air box has oil?
|
agree with kurt. it isn't really supposed to leak much or 'continuously'..just if oil winds up in the airbox by accident, perhaps in an overfill condition. oil hitting the hot heat exchanger is just outdated porsche technology used for a 'sensor'.. ;)

Its so odd though because the oil level has been perfect for the last 1000miles (I check once a week). The air box is dry so I am at odds I guess. I checked and the other end is hooked up under the fuel dist. It seems as though it was clogged and now its not.
