1600 dual port engines don't have rear engine mounts when used in a "type 1" chassis (type 1's are Beetles and Karmann Ghias). The engine simply bolts onto the transmission bellhousing and that's it as far as mounting goes. I don't know if there's anything special about the 912 that requires it to have a rear engine mount. If it is absolutely essential, you should look for what's called a "universal" type 1 crankcase. These crankcases were made with provisions for a rear engine mount, to be used in the type 2's (vans) that used the 1600 dual port. The provisions are just threaded holes near the bottom rear corners of the 'case. Everything else about them is the same, so you can put any 1600 dual port compatible part you like on them. I figure with a pair of Webers on it most people won't be able to tell the difference between that and the original 912 engine with the twin Solexs (they are Solex carbs, aren't they?). Of course, some people think 911 engines are just hopped up Beetle engines too. Oh, to be so unenlightened...
