Windscreen

I have a UK 1982 911 SC.
The inside of the windscreen has a plastic film. I am nopt refering to the laminate in the windscreen.

Previous to my ownership someone with a solvent on their hands marked the screen.
How can I remove this film and why is it there?
Many thanks
Keith

Some porsche's have windshields called "Sekuriflex" - a plastic film on the inside of the windshield designed to capture the glass in the case of accident. I think they're required in some countries. My owners manual states "If very dirty, it can be cleaned with benzine. I would be very careful not to get it on anything else - like the dash top for instance - benzine is real nasty stuff!
