Front sway bar droplink bushings: how to install?

Hi all.

how do I get the Sway Bar Drop Link Bushing into the hole of the droplink bar? Any neat trick?

If there like the aftermarket ones I just got from pelican.....They come apart, just put one side in at a time. If they are like the factory 1 piece/rubber bushing.... I think your gonna have a fight one your hands.

I would try some grease and a C clamp(maybe)

Thanks Herman, yes I'm dealing with the one piece bushings. Grease makes it quite challenging as well, they have jumped all over the garage!

Idea: cut them in half myself? Would that be wise?

I got a piece of steel tube ( a clothes hanging rail out of an old wardrobe) with the inner diameter about the same as the hole in the drop link. Flare out one end until it will accept the bushing.. Using silicon grease push the bushing into the tube (compressing it to the correct diameter). Put the drop link in a vice with the hole facing upwards and hold the tube against it. A couple of taps will have the bush out of the tube and into the drop link. Don't use petroleum grease, it will rot the bush. If you want pics of the tube I can post later but I'm sure you get the idea.

My sway bar bushings are 1 piece also .....I am going to try to boil mine in hot water to get them real soft then try to sqeeze them in.

I will let you know how it goes

Oh yeah, I forgot I had a cup of boiling water to hand too. Dropped them in for 30 secs before each attempt.

Well, I decided to cut them in half anyway. Couldn't see why this wouldn't work and saved me a lot of time....
