Unthinkable!

Well, before I even had a chance to post pictures of my new purchase last year, the unthinkable happened!!

While driving through a grocery store parking lot, a vw jetta backed straight out of it's stall into my front passanger side fender. After I realized what had happened, I just sat in the car in disbelief. Many on lookers thought I was hurt but I could not bare to look at the damage.

This happened just after I placed a large order on Pelican Parts and installed a new oil cooler seal just hours before. What Luck!!

Anyway, thankfully no one was hurt. The car was towed to a local body shop that specializes in p-cars for repair.

Thanks Wayne, yes her insurance is going to pay although I don't think they are going to like the estimate. Thankfully she admited fault and I had two witnesses.

Damn! Judging from the damage, it looks like this moron floored it when backing out of the parking space.

Years ago, my close freind who is a painter did a 13 coat paint job on my gen 1 RX7, custom mix forrest green metalic, light perl in the clearcoat, basically an incredible paintjob that looked a foot thick. Well, 3 days after it was finished I had the same thing happen to me, although I sat there leaning on the horn while she proceeded to back into me .. she then tried to say she didn't do the damage .. unbelievable!

Anyways, sorry for your misfortune. Nice to know it's gonna be taken care of. I would demand the deluxe repair, the fender, headlight / bezel, bumper smile and bumper bellow should all be completely replaced. Good luck

Everyone's so patient. If it'd been me I'd have crawled up someone's tailpipe! I'd have been ballistic. Good for you that you could be calm, I could NOT.

Trust me, I'm with you Dan. Even though I am not as hotheaded as I used to be, I might snap in a situation like this.
On the other hand, if you keep cool and just remember that THEY are paying for it, it should be easier to remain calm.

As repairs go, that an easy one. A new fender, oil cooler, headlights, maybe a valance and new rubber and your good.

You better believe the thought crossed my mind Dan and Wayne. I did not want to make a spectical in front of my mother. She was in the passenger seat and my second witness.

Sweet ride Wayne!

Probably not, since it's a Passat

I'm waiting for their heart attack when a $3k repair bill hits the desk (with that oil cooler)! Not sure I could be that calm either if someone damaged expensive original bodywork being so careless. I firmly believe that if a person can't keep their car off of another's at 10mph, their license should be revoked.
