AC shop in Atlanta
I am looking for a good AC shop in Atlanta. I plan on driving the car more and would like the AC to work during these 90+ days.
I have charged the system before, but it only lasted for a month. Any suggestions would be appreciated. 911 Cab |

IIRC, there's something like 30' of a/c hose in the 911. The original hoses intentionally leaked. The new hoses are called "barrier hoses," and they do not leak. A hose kit is about $325, plus a weekend of dirty, messy, tedious work, but work that is very DIY-able. You don't say what year your car is. If it's an 84-89, then you likely have a Nippondenso compressor. If it's a pre-84, you likely have the York. The York compressors are almost worthless, so if you have one, you might consider replacing it with a Nippondenso. Getting into a/c repairs can be a very slippery slope. If all you want is cool (but not cold) air, then you should probably have a shop leak test the system. If it's just your hoses, replace them and the receiver/dryer and have the system evacuated and then charged with R134a. You'll get cool air, but not cold. If you want COLD air, then you have to look at additional condensers, fans, subcoolers, etc. If you're interested, do a search for my name, Jim Sims, Kuehl, brcorp, and Hugh R. Jim and Charlie Griffiths (Kuehl) are the resident a/c experts, and in most of the a/c threads they chime in with EXCELLENT advice. Bill, Hugh and I are knowledgeable amateurs (along with lots of other people), and we usually chime in also. So, if you do searches for our names long with the phrase "air conditioning," you'll find tons of threads related to improving notoriously poor 911 a/c performance. I hope this helps. Good luck. Stay cool.

Don't know of any A/C shops in ATL that will do 911.
And if you find one, it will cost big buck. You can try diy as stated above. I totally redid my system myself for around $800 and it blows ice cold in the ATL.
