Megasquirt ECU on 3.2

Anyone successfuly use a Megasquirt ECU on a 3.2 system. I know folks have a kit to convert a CIS to a EFI that uses Megasquirt.. but I was looking for a 3.2 success story

Why would you do this? Not trying to be a smartass, but what gain can you expect from swapping out the Motronic system for Megasquirt?

Simply.. with the Megasquirt you can play with the Maps.. The Motronic map while tweakable, it more difficult to tweak.. Also a Megasquirt is a heck of alot cheaper than even a used Motronic

Hi,

I have not heard about MS conversions on the 3.2 engine, but i'm also interested in these mods. i'm would try fit a 3.2 manifold and MS on a 3.0l engine,

Do anyone have an 3.2l manifold complete with airbox, fuelrail, injectors.. for sale ??

Eventually we will put MS on my turbo charged 3.2. But it's gonna be a while. It is possible, but I would not use a 3.2 intake unless you plan to turbocharge or supercharge the engine. If you plan to run normally aspirated, you might consider an individual throttle body induction similar to the stuff we sell for the CIS or carb cars.

The idea with the 3.2 manifold, was to get a better flowing manifold than the CIS one, and to keep it simple with only one butterfly.. i don't like the multi butterfly setup, because of the linkage and the balancing adjustment.

I would be nice the hear about your turbo/ms project !

MS is hardly as inexpensive as a $40 944 ECU and a couple of new resistors!!!

MS is a good, inexpensive ECU compared to others. There is no reason why it won't work with a Carrera manifold it's just a matter of wiring and programming. It took me a while to get my setup running but it runs great.

Warren, Is it truly that easy?

From Loren:

"The 944 and the 911 DMEs use the same circuit design, which is NOT the same as the BMW DME, but use different uPs and EPROMs."

ECU for 3,2

Both Thomas Owen and Chris Bennet have done the conversion successfully. I corresponded with Thomas Owen about the needed resistor change some years ago ... but don't have the value at hand, currently.
