Turbo Oil Leak

Todays problem is oil leaking from the turbo compressor housing. I don't have any photos here at work, but when I started the engine yesterday, that's where it looked like it was coming from. I don't believe I have enough pitch from the bottom drain to the chain cover. Turbo is a Rajay T04B from a BAE kit, pressure feed at top, gravity drain in bottom. Typical setup.

I'll try draining it into a bottle tonight, and see if that alleviates the problem. As I have never seen a tubo leak like this, I ask you all for input.

Thanks!
Pat

If the engine burns oil(because of break in) the compressor will condense the oil and caus eit to drip from the bottom of the housing. . Also the top line could be loose a bit and weap down looking like its leaking from the housing. also did you put a restrictor inline????? if not it could be blowing out the seals and weaping down as well

No restrictor in the feed line, which is one diameter smaller than the drain line. I know this used to work ok from the PO. Not burning any oil after the initial start up. Of course, I only have about 4 minutes of run time on the engine. I'm wondering about the bearings, which I inferred to be OK from checking the shaft radial and axial play.

Looks like the drain fitting carrier block was evidently not real flat, so there was a bad mating surface to the turbo. I filed it flat. We'll try that fix after work tonight.

BTW, the turbo ain't making any positive pressure at 3-4k RPM. May be a bearing issue keeping the turbine from spinning freely. Good thing this is an easy bolt on application!
