Weber Rebuild and Tune - Help
 

Can anyone please recommend a publication or tech article which specifically references rebuilding and tuning of Weber 40IDA carburetors. I purchased a '70 2.2 which was worked, tuned, and running well when taken out of service but has since been in storage for 10 years. Any leads would be helpful. I thumbed through Bruce Anderson's Performance Handbook but didn't see any real specifics(maybe I need to take a harder look) but any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I needed to overhaul the Weber 44IDFs on my race car and found that Haynes (yea those folks) makes a pretty good manual on webers. I don't remember if it covered the triples or not, but it's worth a look. I know the 44IDF procedures were right on.

Tuning is also included. Pretty basic.
Experience is the best teacher, but this gives a starting point.

I went and checked and the Haynes manual covers the 40IDA models. I wanted to get the other book but couldn't find it locally around San Diego?

I just checked and amazon.com sells Pat Braden's Weber Carburetors book.

The new issue of European Car mag has an article on Weber carbs. It lists some references. Hope this helps.

With a car that was running fine when taken out of service (if that is the 'truth') I am betting there isn't anything major wrong with the carbs. Those are traditional designs with Zinc, Aluminum, Steel, and Brass construction. The rubber components are the only thing that would be harmed by aging.

My guess is you will have more problems with corroded connections in the electrical system than anything else, and most of those can be fixed by removing and replacing the spade connectors a couple of times! A careful, thorough check of all ground connections throughout the car would be a good idea. That is where the color-coded schematics in the factory service manual would be very nice to have at hand!
