Wheel Refinish Advice Needed

Hey Guys,

I am about to get my wheels refinished and would like to get your input. I spoke with the local wheel shop and they said they can repaint (to any color), polish, or machine (with clear) to look like forged for about $60-$75 per wheel. I originally wanted to have the wheels repainted with silver-lead based paint to get that Euro wheel look, but as I found out today that you can not buy this paint in the US (anyone know how I can get some?). Your advice would be greatly appreciate and thanks in advanced.

Best regards,
Darrell

I know its acorss country, but give Al Reed Polishing in Anaheim, CA a cal and ask him what to do. You will not find a nicer, more helpful guy than Al. His work (along with Harvey's and Jason's) is so damned good.

Thanks Dan. I will do a search to look him up.

And I have attached a picture of the color I wanted my wheels painted; however, as I mentioned these are "lead based paint" and can not be found in the US. Anyone have access to such paint or know how to mimic this color scheme?

Thanks,
Darrell

Spend $10 to get some high heat stand dark silver and cover with a layer of clear coat. See if it works. Wort case, you loose $10 bucks and some hours. The wheels will get refresh anyway.

you can actually get the wheels refinished in the color you desire. I know Transwheel and a few others have the proces in place and once the powder is baked, holds up very well and looks really good. The product used has several names, Hyper Black or Hyper Silver

Thanks Dan,
I'll try to find Al Reed to get his opinion.

Thanks rnln,
I was really considering doing that, but did some test sprays with chrome paint (which actually looked similar to the color I want), but I am horrible at painting. I know I will make more of a mess and thought it would be best if I leave this up to the professionals.

Hey Rad,
Nice wheels!

Thanks Tim,
Powder coat would be best. I am guessing the wheel shop probably did not have that color and simply want me to settle with regular silver (almost gray). I am going to call a few other places to see if they carry that hyper silver color.

Best regards,
Darrell
