New front monoballs with looseness

I just installed some new front monoballs (I'll refrain from mentioning the manufacturer for now) and pulling out of my driveway, I hear some clicking/tapping noise coming from the front as the suspension is working. I go for a short drive and it's noticeable over all bumps. It's not thumping, just a slight metal to metal tapping.

Come home, pull in the garage, jack up the front end and remove the wheels. When I pull the hub in an up and down motion, I hear it, look up and can see the monoball bearing is loose. It's just a tiny bit, but it's still loose. These are brand new.

I guess my question is: Is this normal? Do you deal with some noise for the performance gain? I did have monoballs on before this, and they were quiet, but needed some more front camber so I got these off-set plates (I guess that might narrow down the product).

Thanks.
