T-bar surprise - Opinions?
Pulled the front torsion bars on my 87 to make way for the new Elephant bars and found this on the passenger side.
My assumption is that it is only the rubber bushings that need to be replaced. Has anyone seen enough of these to have an opinion about if the problem is more severe? We have a charity carshow and picnic for the children's hospital this weekend and I don't think I can slap this together before Saturday morning... Bleh!

If that is indeed pitting as it looks like in the bottom pic, I would not re-use that bar.

Wayne,
I hope you are putting in new bushings as well. Obviously rubbing for a long time. Good luck with the Charity Car show for the Childrens Hospital.

New bushings will correct the root problem. The tbars are of course trashed and need replacement. That's all you need to be back in business.

Just re-read and noticed you were putting in new bars - yup, new bushings and you're all set.

It's your bushings. I just pulled my 6 year old 22mm tbars from my 87 and found somthing similar. I had a lot of squeaking ever since the 22s were put on.
I just installed new elephant 22mm tbars and poly bronze bushing. No squeaking and the bars are in the center again. I would not put new tbars in without new bushings of some kind. You'll most likely have a squeaky front end and your new tbars will be toast in just a few years.

Hope you have them in stock and are ready to ship.I have the polybronzes for the rear but they aren't in yet. Figured I could do the front bars first and the car would push heavily and then I could do the rears starting Sunday... (Wife choked down the extra expense fairly well. Maybe the road trip to Hearst Castle this weekend softened her up!)
