Engine install question
I am finally at the point of installing the engine/transmission into my '73E after repairing many rusted pieces. It is a motor out of a '74S and has been sitting for several years, some of wich was outside under a tarp (before I bought it). It did run correctly when it was removed from the donor car and I have put some MMO in the cylindars and periodically turned the engine over. Besides standard maintenance items (air/oil filters, check all fuel lines) is there anything I need to do to the motor before dropping it in?

Check you oil seals/gaskets, adjust the valves, replace all hoses, fuel and vacuum lines. Check the cIS on the '74 engine and be sure everything is well documented because it's hard to see/troubleshoot anything once the engine is back in and bolted up.

I am not sure what you mean by "check the CIS and make sure everything is documented" Do you mean make sure that everything moves properly and is not gummed up?
Thanks. |
What I really mean is to make a diagram showing where all of the fuel/vacuum and electrical connections belong so you won't have to guess later on.

Thanks for the advice. I will post some pictures after I have some paint on things.
