Do you do valve adjustment yourself ?

Admittedly I suffer from a great deal of pride having successfully managed my own valve adjust this week. Still, at the no 1 Porsche forum in the world, how many do their own valve adjustments ?

Its my version of John Cleeseīs 'Silly walks'.

And as I recently started out on a more than three months long 'Daddy-holiday', I will have plenty of time to post this kind of 'Silly polls'.

But seriously - I am curious as of how many of the members are doing this themselves.

Good money in male prostitution then, is it ?

Adjusting my valves is one of the tasks that I am more proud of. After weeks & months of fretting I "just did it". A local mechanic said they needed it so I did it... only two exhausts were actually out. The adjusters reminded me of a Triumph GT6+ I used to own, only with the Porsche I was upside down & laying on the garage floor LOL

Well Ryan, maybe we ought to change the name of our 40+Club to 'Wankers Synonymous'.

Congratulations !!!! Good for you, Ryan!

At least I hope it is - my own experience has been shall we say a tad precarious, as you know.

"...trying to be good until the wedding." - Whats that ? Some kind of local tradition ? Anyway, one canīt go wrong 'do the Yoda'.

Right Stijn, back to the valves. I wonder what the numbers would be on a classic Ferrari forum. Or a ricer forum - but I suppose those are equipped with self adjusting valves. What wimps..

still...

...premarital whippage

After 40 years of tinkering with motorcycles, a 911 valve adjust was a walk in the park. Only trick is getting the lower gaskets just right so they don't leak.

Once you've mastered cam followers on an XK-E, 911 valves are, as Bob put it, "a walk in the park"!
