stuck sun roof

The sun roof is stuck on my 84 911. It tries to go forward and backwards but is stuck in the closed position. It seems to be stuck on the driver's side. Any Ideas What it could be?

I suspect your sunroof cables have broken. It seems weird that both sides broke tho. Does the motor spin?

Does one side move a little and then the motor won't spin anymore?

If the motor spins, I would suspec the "transmission" for the sunroof motor has stripped a gear or is loose.

Good luck!

The motor and cables are working but the sun roof is stuck. It tries to move but can not. I tried to use the crank but the door only will move forward and backward in the hole in roof. I do not know how other sun roofs work on 911 but mine makes a lot of noise when it reaches completely open or closed. This is the same sound that it makes know but will not drop down to slide to the open position.
