Seat Belts

Hi all,

I just purchased a '69 911T, and I'm in the process of installing retracting seatbelts. I've found the attachment point high on the "B" pillar but I'm having trouble locating the mounting point for the latch which I assume is near the tunnel and the stationary mounting point near the door. I am assuming there is a threaded boss similar to the attachment point on the B pillar. Secondly, the retractor will not release the belt. I am assuming the weight mechanism inside the retractor is to blame. I was going to disassemble the unit to clean and lubricate it but it appears to be held by swedged bars. Has anyone had any luck repairing these and if so, how did you disassemble the retractor. Any help is appreciated.

My 71T had retracting belts when I bought it. The buckle attachment is a shared bolt for both left and right, mounted dead center on the tunnel just in front of the cover plate. My buckles have stiff/flexing arms about a foot long that hold the buckles up and off the floor. The stationary mounting points are about 6" in front of the rear seats at the point where the side wall meets the floor. Have not taken the retractor apart. B.

I installed retracting seatbelts in my '73 S a few winters ago and found the retracting mechanism is very sensitive to how it is mounted. I got mine to function properly by rotating the reel part about it's mounting bolt slightly until the retractor worked properly. It doesn't take much in the way of rotation to get them to function properly. I believe the final position that worked for me is the retractor is tilted slightly toward the front of the car.
