Any local Chicagoan help out a fellow 911 guy...

trying to figure out why my driver's side power window doesn't work. I have a new switch and motor in hand, tried the switch, nothing happenned.

I also read there is a relay behind the oil gauge, but I'm still a nOOb at this. Anyway someone could test my window to figure out if it's the motor?

TIA

Cool

Did the window ever work before?

I'm in the south loop area. Where are you located?

Guy I knew had an old Honda with a bad window switch. He always forgot about it so whenever he rolled the window down it wouldn't go back up. Would take a couple of long wires and connect the window motor directly to the battery to shut it.

ha, I'm in River West, and it did work about a week before I purchased the car, and then died during the PPI, thank god it was up.

I recently replaced my driver's window motor and got the old one to work after the fact, so now I have a spare I guess.
Check your owner's book there might be a procedure to manually open the window and break the motor loose.
In my '92 you remove the tweeter speaker, slit the plastic and insert a 5/32 Allen wrench all the way thru and attempt to turn the motor, lowering the window.
I really needed to replace the motor anyway, so now that window is just as quick as the car.

Don't want to open up the door if I don't have to, and there must be power coming from somewhere, seeing I get sparks when I'm reconnecting the switch.

Do you have the right wires connected to the switch?
