23 mpg on my last fill up.
Mike |
Used to get 15 MPG in normal, not-too-heavy-foot city driving before replacing all 12 injector seals. Now it's up to 20 MPG with similar driving style. Right before the change, I could see the injectors "lift" from their holes due to the tension from hard fuel lines whenever the throttle opened, i.e. vacuum decreased. So, I had to compensate for the extra air by adding a whole lot more fuel than it normally needs, and the idle was way too rich.

when stock my '79 sc used to give 20 to 22 mpg on regular. now with a pair of 40 mm webers, s cams , and 10.3 to 1 3.3 litre p+c i am running mid grade and getting 15 to 18.5 mpg.

17 mpg mixed highway and city traffic...
|
I just filled up this morning (91 premium), and am getting 22 mpg
50/50 mixed town and highway--average driving. '82SC. |
Mix of highway and city, last fill up, 22 mpg. running on 87 octane gas (Shell) 127,000 miles completely stock. One trip to NJ last year, wife and kids in the car, average "trip speed" 74 mph, no a/c running, -- 24 mpg!!!.

last time I calculated was around 23-24.
Prepare to get flame :) |
I will have to check my City Milage. I normally only check my Highway.
I just drove from North Carolina to Florida and back. The car has a 3.6 in it and no a/c. I got 25 MPG on average driving it like I stole it. I did anyhwere from 80-100 MPH on the trip. The average speed was probably in the 85 MPH range. When accelerating I had not problem dropping it to the floor either. When I get it back home to Florida this winter I will have to check my City milage although I suspect it will be poor due to my driving syle. |

How does it handle short trips around town? I have a stock '82 SC recently purchased, 92K miles, runs strong. I drive it once a week, rev it up to 4K rpm in 1st and 2nd after warm to keep the plugs clean. I suppose it could be an everyday driver? Interesting you are using regular gas. That's what my manual says, too. |
I get between 18 and 24 mpg in mu 1991C2. Depends how "frisky" I get.
