Central Locking System Wiring
 

Since the day I got my P-car, the central locking system has been a major pain in my ass (yes, I feel confident that I can say it since Wayne has, ha ha ha). I have the full power lock system (only one pronge on my door locks if the power locks do not work or are not connected, so I can only open the locks from the outside).

I've had each of my doors apart at least four times in the past year trying to fix it. Usually actuator arms pop off causing me to have to take off the panel to fix the problem. Since I've had this happen several times, I've re-adjusted each of the actuator control arm lengths to the proper size and put the blue locking stuff on so they can re-adjust themselves. That fix has worked quite well.

But I've noticed that from time to time the power locks will only work when I turn the toward the front of the car. When this is the case they cycle from locked to open in about a half a second. I've spoken to a few people about this and each thought I have a ground (from a broken or damaged wire) somewhere in the system's wiring. Both of my microswitches (inside of the door locks) work correctly. I haven't been able to locate the damaged wires, but I'm to the point now that I'm ready to replace all of the wiring from the microswitch connection (at the bottom of the door) to the central locking relay if necessary.

Has anyone had this same problem before? Has anyone done this without taking the doors off? Does anyone know what diameter size, number of wires in the bunden (I think its three) and how much wire I'm going to needed if I do replace it.
