hubcaps? 911 or what kind of Porsche?
Hi all:
I have a set of hubcaps and I was hoping the collective expertise can determine what they are originally from. They are chrome, with a silver crest. No paint on crest. Moon type with no surface undulations or anthing. The crest is held on with three rivets, rubber washers and a metal washer for each. On the reverse, the numbers 9231 appear, along with the word "Lemmerz" in a scripted font. The number 4 53 also appears, with a space between the 4 and the 53. I bought them sight unseen, because I thought they might be the original hubcap for the 912E (internal model #923), which is hard to find. Now, upon inspection, I'm not sure. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. |

I just checked a picture of my friend Andy's 912 and he has those really beautiful chrome steel wheels and there are hub caps on them similiar to the ones you describe. They look really sharp on a car that old, give it the final touch you might say.

In the vast lexicon of all things Porsche, all of the wheels seem to have a cool nickname( e.g. cookie cutters ) but the the chrome-plated steel ones. What gives???
