What Were The OEM Shocks in '84

Trying to find out what the standard shock was for a 1984 911. There are tons of options available, and notes about several different ones, but I need to know what the base shock was for the year. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Base shock was the Boge.

You're now asking a different question !!!

The "black" front shock housing, ...or "strut assembly"..if Boge....would have the Boge name stamped somewhere on the outside of the body. You were given correct info...this would be the base shock. You were also given good info that as delivered from the factory...there *may* have been ( let's keep focusing on the fronts, still) green Bilsteins. These would be "Bilstein struts"..the complete assembly including the outer housing and wheel spindle and attached steering arm...etc.

Now....as to "replacements"...the original black Boge "housings" can have either Boge or Koni or Bilstein "inserts" installed later. Someone could also have replaced the complete front "Strut" with a full Bilstein strut...but that is usually yellow as aftermarket supply.

My 85 came with Boge front and back. Pull off the front wheels and look for the Boge stamp as Wil has said - you will probably need to clean some gunk off the strut to see it...
The rears it doesn't matter, they will take a variety of replacement shocks.
I installed the Bilstein HD gas all around and am very pleased with the performance, very solid handling.
You'll need the ring nut tool to install them correctly, it is available free of charge from Bilstein, they will ship you one. There should be an 800 number on their website.
