high idle after warm up-79sc

79 sc with 104k miles, runs great but lately after warm up the idle stays around 1100 to 1200 rpm.I have checked the aux. air valve and vaccum hoses. The only way that i have been able to lower the idle is by the co screw.

I would suggest one place to look. After warm up pull the outer hose off the Aux. Air Regulator (not Aux. Air Valve) and using a mirror, check to see if the passage is completely closed. If the disc is not closing it could be the electrical connection to the Regulator, or mechanically the disc is binding. Haynes manual covers this type of check and problem.

SC,

When you do as Towen says you can check to see if your aux air regulator is the problem by pluging the line and the output of the AAR (after the car is fully warmed up). If your idle comes down that is your problem. However my experience is that your mixture is just a little rich.

Good Luck,

Seth
