Roll bar
 

Does anyone out there have enough experience to tell me if a roll bar designed for a 911 coupe (88 model) will fit w/o modifications to a 911 Targa (87 model)?? a freind has one used.

Scott, is it a single 'loop' bar, or a full 'cage' ??? All of the catalogs I have seen recently, and I have the new TWEEKS catalog fresh from my mail tray, show two DIFFERENT model numbers for coupes and Targa's '65-89. I suspect the clearance restrictions on a Targa interior under the Targa 'roll bar padding' require a lower cross tube. Of course, if the price is 'right' I would buy it and sweat the modifications ... later! Also, if the friends item for sale is out of a car already, why not drive over and do a careful trial fit to see how it looks. If it is still in a car, take a tape measure over and eyeball the installation points, and measure from the center top of the cross tube down to the forward-most anchors on each side, and compare to measurements inside your Targa from the center of the underside of the padding on the underside of the Targa-bar to the locating points ... assuming the locating points are accessible in your car.
