Oil Cooler on 1970 911 E - Needed or not?

Is it necessary or beneficial to install an oil cooler on my 1970 911 E ?

The car has Weber Carbs. and some minor engine mods. I have a complete 3.6 cooler set up, lines, riser, and cooler. Forgetting the logisics of the install, should I install it or not? I am restoring the car and want to do it(if I do it) before I complete the resto work. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Well, it kind of depends on how hard you drive it and how hot it gets in the summer where you are. If it was me, I would go ahead and do it. For the lower belt of states that see 90+ degree days in the summer, I think it is a good idea ... almost mandatory from Texas through So. Cal.

I did my own cooler conversion to my '73 'S' with -16AN Russell hose and fittings, a custom-ordered Earl's -16AN cooler, and a MOCAL USAC/CART thermostat in -16AN !!! And my engine is 'stock' except for an RS 2.7 distributor! But, the summers in West Texas are brutally HOT!
