Cheap alternative shift knob, or, surrogate shift knob until you find the one you really want.
When I bought my car last year it came with a MOMO Shadow shift knob, nice knob ,but not for this car, this car needed something from its own decade or the factory shift knob. I need to rebuild the shift mechanism, new coupler, bushings ect., but I couldn't stand that shift knob it sat so high on the shifter that it made the shift strokes really long and it was so out of place having the carbon fiber look to it and I didn't want to buy a factory shirt knob knowing that I would be taking it off again to do the rebuild, so I found this shift knob at Pep Boys. With a little Dremel work it fits perfect. I opened the ring up on the bottom that covers the set screws so it would slide over the shift knob stop on the shifter so the shifter would sit all the way down to the shift knob stop, so then you could tighten the screws on the shifter, bring up the ring from the bottom and screw it on the bottom of the shifter, in order to do that I had to push the shifter boot over the stop on the shift lever, but it works out fine. The knob looks pretty good ,fits the era of the car, it only cost me $16.95. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looks pretty sweet to me and it's probably higher quality than the original, thin plastic ones that come stock.

Later shift levers have a metal collar tack-welded onto the shift lever. You can remove it with a cutoff tool. This allows you to insert a shift knob to any depth you want or to shorten the lever too if desired (cheapest short shift mod.).
