Has anyone replaced the cap head bolts on the pressure plate with hex head bolts? Would the torque be the same?
|
I've replaced quite a few clutches over the past 32 years, but, no, I never needed to change the bolts that held on the pressure plate. However, what ever spec. a hex-head capscrew had in a particular application should be valid for a replacement allen-head bolt ... just because you are replacing a DIN 8.8 bolt with a DIN 12.9 bolt does not mean you want to torque it tighter!

thanks warren, i've just removed my clutch and the bolts were finger tight all but one i had to use a wrench on. i was concerned that the reason was the prevoius owner did not have the correct tools when the clutch was replaced. my TO bearning retainer came off. while i had it out i would use hex bolts for more reliable torque.
