This same car has been on and off ebay for almost a year ...... how come no takers? There are loads of guys with CGT money who could pick this up, better future prospect than a CGT.

"For more information on this very rear collectible investment Car please contact:"

Pretty unprofessional to be making errors like that when trying to sell a $400,000 item! (Might explain why they've had difficulties selling it, if it's true it's been offered for sale for almost a year.)

The three pictures don't help either. I wouldn't sell a regular 911 with that little pictures and text.

I think what really hurts the car is the fact that it is not street legal. Who will want to only track this car?

Cheers, George

True ..... in addition, the car has not been driven in 17 years ... must need some work before it can be driven. Is being sold by Gemballa USA, pretty reputable. If only I had that kind of money .....

It's the more-desirable (IMO) Sport model, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it the "racing version". Still way cool though!

Although, for about $30k more, you could have one of these Bruce Canepa-tweaked US-legal 959's that would blow the doors off that eBay car.

Oh, and the real racing version of the 959, was known as the 961:

...and, unlike the other, this one actually won...

Small detail i didn't know: it seems the support vehicle for the 86 race as a g-wagon... with a 928 engine shoehorned in.

Yeah, those rally-spec 959's were incredible.
Even 20 years later, I bet they would still prove to be competitive in today's Dakar Rally.

What you may be thinking of are the Range Rovers that were fitted with modified 928 engines. That same Paris-Dakar Rally alos saw the entry of at least one of the little Russian Lada SUV's that had been fitted with a small block Chevy. and both of these were race vehicles, not support trucks

When the 928 came out tuners of the late 70's and early 80's went crazy. I've seen pictures where Sbarro stuffed 928 V8's into golfs and vanagons.
