SSI install question.
Removed all of the exhaust studs/nuts today with heat and no broken exhaust studs. Interesting, though. 10 of exhaust studs came out instead of the nut coming off. I assume this is not a problem and I should just buy new exhaust studs and replace?? Just curious because I didn't expect it to happen that easily and with that many head studs out.

i had a couple do that. if i recall you are to put a bit of loc-tite on them. reseach that though, it has been a while.

I certainly would put new studs while they are out anywah, as the old ones tend to embrittle from the heat treatment they received over the years. Wayne is right, the loctite does not hold up to high temps (Heat is how loctite it is removed if you ever need to get it off). Just get the stud in snug and if it comes out again next time you work on the exhaust, put it right back. If you put antiseize on the nut side, they may never come out again.

Thanks! Wayne, looks like I'm going to be calling you for new exhaust studs tomorrow.
