Would it cause a problem?

I recently added a MSD system to my SC. New plugs w/ larger gaps, cap, rotor, wires. I first test drove it last night and I can already tell a diff. in smoother idle, better throttle response, etc... While I was installing it I of course took the blower motor and heater duct/hoses out of my engine bay and I have to say I really liked the look of the more sparse engine bay. Plus that large black hose really hides view of my cool new red MSD box and tach adapter. Would it hurt anything if I ran the car w/o the heater hoses and blower motor? I don't use the heat anyway. I took all the A/C stuff out long ago.

Any thoguhts at all? I was thinking that it may cause my engine compartment to get too hot if I did this?

I had higher engine temps when I left the heater system uncorked. I hooked everything back up and they went back to normal,. acceptable levels. I think if you backdate the heat system you will be ok, though. I like to take late fall drives and sometimes need a bit 'o heat and defrosting.

I do plan to backdate the heat exchangers soon but that would not eliminate those heater hoses would it?

You will need to cap or cover all opened/exposed ducting. By removing the pieces, you will have interupted the air flow over and out of the engine. My car has headers with no heat or blower (or defroster)...we simply fabricated caps for the open ducts and the car has no heat problems (mostly track car).

You can buy block off plates for the fan air housing relatively cheaply. That is the right way to do it rather than leaking off air into the engine bay that was intended for cooling the engine.

Smart racing sells some, as does the factory. I have a right side plate, I'd be glad to sell very cheap ($15 shipped).
email me if you are interested.

Factory heat exchangers may run hotter, but should be OK. Headers obviously are intended to run w/o heat ducting.

If I went to SSIs though I would still have a use/need of either ducting or block off plates correct. A SSI Dansk combo is what I wanted to go with b/c I do drive this car to work at least every Fri if not every Thurs and Fri.
