unleaded?

I just got my first 911 (thank, thank you very much). its a 1970 911T (i'm the 2nd owner). this topic may have been covered before but i was wondering if unleaded gas is ok, or do i need to use lead additive?

thanks

Congradulations, on what can be an extremely pleasureable car to drive, work on, and talk about with other owners! You can use unleaded gas without any fear, as I'm sure the first owner has been doing for about 25 years! I strongly recommend that you purchase two books immediately: the Haynes 911 manual, and Bruce Anderson's 'Porsche 911 Performance Handbook' ... and begin reading! Both are available from Pelican, and don't forget to get the FREE 'Pelican Technical CD-ROM & Catalog'! I think you will find your car was designed to be worked on by owners, as evidenced by the thorough owner's manual with many pictures and explanations not found in typical mfr manuals of the day, and certainly not these days. The third thing I would recommend is a subscription to 'Excellence' magazine, whose technical editor is Bruce Anderson!

None of the 'T' engines, or USA 2.7 or 3.0 engines have a high enough compression ratio to 'need' super unleaded, although I use and recommend it because of a better additive package. Turbo's, and Motronic engines are a different matter, indeed!
