roll bar padding
stupid question time........as per scca all roll bar material around drivers head must now have SFI/FIA approved flameproof/non-melting roll bar padding. got 1 stick that is length of top of roll bar. used 4 zip-tys and actually clears my cab top when in the up position. my questions??? any better ideas than this. should i use entire piece for driver and passenger. should i just place 1 piece on drivers side? should i wrap it with anything? all comments welcomed. thanks

You can't have too much padding.
Here's a pic of my cage and the padding I used, but there isn't any top bar padding in this pic. I also wrapped it with a wide vinyl tape when all was said and done, which holes it in place better than zip ties. I'd say run one piece all the way across if it actually reaches - it's nice to protect the passenger, too :) http://www.rennlight.com/gallery/image/5000130.JPG |
hey thanks. sorry about the cops showing up great pic!

For street driving, I'd add some more to the bar directly behind the driver's head in Thom's picture. In a rear impact, the seat will easliy flex enough there to allow contact.
