oil leak problems.

Hey guys I was driving along earlier on the highway in my 78 930 when I noticed my temp gauge started rising about 30 degrees. I then saw smoke coming from the back of my car and pulled over and shut her down. I looked under the rear and saw a few drops of oil dripping. I took her home slowly and raised it up. It looks like to oil is dripping from right above to right side middle header. Its dripping onto the headers makeing them smoke. Doesn't seem to have lost alot of oil. The car rarely leaked oil before. It only leaks/smokes when I really get on it. What could the leak be? thanks

Search for "overfilled oil" or something along those lines. I made that mistake and it did what your is doing.

I did change the oil yesterday with 8 quarts of oil and 2 qts of lucas oil stabilzer. However I have been driving the car since yesterday and it just happened earlier. I checked my dipstick and it only shows a bit above low. There looks like a small oil cooler back there, could it be leaking from that? Its too hot right now to see where its coming from.

Did you check the oil level on level ground , idling, and at normal running temp? If not, do that and check it again. The change in oil level will amaze you. When you overfill the oil finds its way up the breather tube into the intake. Pull your air filter and check for oil in the bottom of the intake.

I do not have the stock airbox on there. Its a small breather filter off of it. I did go out there a bit earlier and fill it and it felt wet. It was oil. However if it was overfilling and dripping why would the temp suddenly rise?

ok more info, I can drive it as hard as I want with no leaking or smoke. However when it gets to a certain temp, say 10 o clock on the temp gauge thats when it starts leaking/smoking. There is absolutely no smoke coming from the exhaust. I have pinpointed the leak to the oil sensor(?) in the rear or the engine, the one the turbo line connects to. Im assuming the higher the temp, the thinner the oil making it slip through there?

Ouch, 10 o'clock seems a tad toasty
