I participate in the AX last year and had a good time. Thanks for that.
The only real gripe I would throw out is the rap music. It wasn't to my taste but I could overlook that easily enough, but it was so loud we couldn't hear the PA system calling drivers, run groups, etc. Also, I didn't find the results posted anywhere. just a bit of contructive BS, good luck and hope it goes well. |

I will try and be there but will bring the VW as long as I don't spend all my money at German Autofest.

- Auto-X (hosted by Porsche Club of America & sponsored by Falken Tires - 1st - 5th awards (no specific classes - must pass tech inspection) - Other Awards / Trophies - Tuner (1st - 3rd) - Auto-X (1st - 5th) (FTD will get also a set of Falken Tires - 15-18") - Best Of Classes Last year I was the (FTD) in the Auto-X and I was not allowed to win the tires because I drove a Porsche and worked the Auto-x So the guy that had the fastest VW took MY tires home. I remember having one heck of a sunburn after a full day of working the corners every minute I wasn't driving, just like Christian and Kevin. Heck, Kevin wasn't even driving and he worked the corners all day.
Porsche guys put on the AX, Porsche guys worked the AX, but when one of em hauls butt and wins he wasn't eligible for the prize? Then, .... bad karma hits. Make it all better or I'm a no show. I wonder if the VW guys are willing to work corners all day in the hot sun. |

I greatly appreciate the feedback, and here's an explanation. The staffing and guidelines was already agreed to by Mike G. and i prior to the event. I wanted to make it as fun as possible for the staff and show our thank you by basically paying the staff/workers to play and have a staff competition as well.
All staff members could not compete (including hired companies) for the event prizes nor trophies as it is the same in any other event/promotion/raffle/etc. In return for the support and work, we offered a fee paid per worker, free track time, and even did custom 1st-3rd trophies specifically for the PCA members. hope this clears things up as we are doing our best to cater to the whole scene. Please let me know if theres any other concerns and Mike G. if you have any Auto-X questions or suggestions. I really greatly appreciate all the help that was available in '05 for the auto-x and hope to have the great team once again for '06. thank you, Tom ![]() Quote:

I still am a little confused.
We volunteered to help out, but were not staff. We showed up to drive and worked because they were shorthanded. No compensation, no free track time, just a sunburn. IIRC, the VW and Audi drivers were mighty scarce when it came to corner working, setting up the track, cleaning up afterwards, etc. There were plenty of them but very few of them actually showed up on the track unless it was their turn to drive. Some were very helpful, most were not. I can understand that the paid staff was not eligble to win prizes but we signed up and paid our fees to driving in the AX and then helped out just to be good guys. If Mike graf had agreed that we would work and not be eligle to win prizes but would instead recieve other compensation (like free track fees or payment), my check must still be in the mail. It sounds to me like the VW drivers are the only ones eligible to win prizes. If that is true, please come out and say it in bold type. Your original post (on a Porsche board) would tend to indicate otherwise. I wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong idea (again). Here it is as clear as I can put it: If a Porsche driver pays his fees and drives and wins FTD, does he get the tires or not? Last edited by sammyg2; 08-01-2006 at 10:00 AM.. |
