Cool Carbon Fiber Porn

Just got my car back from the body shop! Sorry if the pic's don't due it justice. Carbon from Arnold at Getty. Only problem is now I need to book it into the shop for corner balance and alignment. Lost so much weight it looks like it was a lifted 4X4.

Was it just the two lids?

The CF works better esthetically with your black car than with anything I've seen yet.

I weighed everything that came off the car. Stock front and rear bumpers and impact shocks, deck lid with RSR 3.8 wing, stock hood, window washer system including tank and whole lot of little pieces, etc. The total diet was 176 lbs. I replaced it with new front and rear fiberglass bumpers, carbon fiber hood and ducktail for a total addition of 31 lbs. Net loss on the bathroom scale was 145lbs. The car has 23 mm front torsion bars and 31 rear torsion bars, after the weight loss the rear came up an inch and half and front came up just over 2 inches. I am also going to install some Corbeau FX1's here shortly I can't wait to get it back on the scales. Now I just need to save my pennies for those Lindsey P2's with RSR finish.

Very Nice! I completed a similar project with my brother in-law over the winter. I did the hood, front bumper, front fenders, rear fenders, IROC tail and rear bumper all in Carbon Fiber. The Wheels are 17"x11's in the rear and 17x9's up front.

Something doesn't add up here. 23mm font bars are equivalent to ~330lb/in @ the wheel (instant-g web site). Even if you lost the entire 145# over the front axle, that would only raise the car 0.22" (145# / 660#/in - remember there are two T-bars). Burning through a full tank of gas 22gal is ~130lbs. The car simply doesn't move 1.5-2" w/ that kind of weight change, else it would when you put a 145# passenger in (BTW, I have 23mmF and 30mmR T-bars - almost same as you.) Likely your shocks haven't settled back down (bilsteins?) or they adjusted things while they put on the bodywork? Heck, taking the motor out of my car doesn't move the rear up 1.5" (w/ 30mm T bars)

I do have bilsteins, they may not have settled in yet. I hadn't thought about that. I better get the tape measure after I drive it toady.

Sorry for the delay in response, I was traveling back to the States from Europe. I designed the exhaust setup myself and had it fabricated for me. It's mainly composed of European Racing Headers and Magnaflow mufflers. Interestingly enough, I now notice that Porsche is using the "center" design on their "GT" cars

Those are some sweat cars.

I know this may seem rude, but how much did you guys spend on those custom CF modes? If they weren't custom, where did you guys purchase them. Not that I'm planning on buying anything in the near future, but its nice to dream and have a budget for that dream
