1975 911 FS - Anyone Have an Opinion on This Car?

Hello,

There is a 1975 911S for sale on the Pelican board and was wondering if anyone knew anything about this particular car. It is a light blue (Gulf Blue maybe, not sure what they called it in '75) and has a Carrera script by the rockers. The poster is MACHINEMON and is located in Driftwood, TX. It looks like a decent car, but has been on the market for some time, which is never good. He wants $11k or trade for an RV. I don't have an RV, but might like to get an inexpensive, solid mid 70's 911 to drop in a 3.0 or 3.2.

For some reason, I am not able to post a reply to his posting, so I cannot get anymore information on the car. Any help or info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Scott: if you get serious about the car let me know. Driftwood is only about 30 minutes from my house--but be aware that I am not mechanically inclined. Can also give you an excellent resource for a PPI. J

There used to be a lot of comments about cars in the classifieds relative to value and price from non-buyers. You should be able to contact the buyer either through clicking on the envelope beside the user name or the PM tab below the profile.

I also just looked and the sellers email address is listed right in an ad for the car posted today.

This should help. It's the initial advertisement. That is, if you haven't seen it yet.

Hey guys, thanks for the quick responses.

Holtjv, thanks for the offer. If I am serious, I may take you up on it.

Deanp, I saw his email later and sent a message.

Spede, I did see the initial ad, but could not locate it. Thanks for posting the link. I see it is a "track" car, so it may not be of interest to me.

I see you guys have '75 and '76 esses. What are your opinions of that vintage car and what have been your experiences. Have they been good to you. The 2.7 has such a poor rep as being pushed to its reliability limit and the car was kind of underpowered. I was thinking of hot rodding this vintage with a 3.0 or 3.2 just for fun.

You don't have to pay that amount for a car you are thinking of putting another engine in. By the way, why would you WANT to put another engine in it if the 2.7 is in fact recently rebuilt as stated? I'd ask for receipts of course before deciding anything. Also, did you note you're going to be into an engine and tranny drop right away? The 3rd gear synchro is gone which sounds to me like a rebuild of the tranny is coming. Not sure on price? $1500 for that? Nice looking car from the appearence of it but you don't have to give $11k, probably get a decent roller to put an engine in for $5k.

I too live close by and could possibly take a look/inspection. Lots of fun roads in that area... Always looking for an excuse to go for a drive.

Looks like Mexico Blue. Thought it was my first 911 for a minute...

Post the VIN if you have it. If it was mine I have tons of info on it still.
