Will an SC deck lid fit a Carrera?

I need a new deck lid for my '87 Carrera. No spoiler or rear window wiper. Will a deck lid from a '78-'83 SC fit?

Yes. In fact even earlier will fit too.

Even later (964) will fit with some hinge mods....

Yes, direct bolt on! Be aware of the smog sticker on the inside of the trunk lid. If it is off for the year, it can lead to serious confusion, if you have to pass a smog check.

Yes they will fit all the way back to possibly pre 69. You will have two holes to deal with that held the "911SC" badge. I chose to leave the holes and use a "911" badge from a 77. These are available from Pelican

I dont think you can go that far back. I believe 74 up to the 964 era will fit

I had deleted the SC badge on my SC by welding the holes and then having the decklid painted. It needed paint anyway, and I like the clean look. One can always glue the script back on, like it was done on the later Carrera.

Mine looked very nice until I had the shop prep it for paint. Seems most people close the deck heavy handed and leave many small dents in the lid. Check carefully.
