'83 SC turn signals

It's raining in Southern California (don't start with the song on me), and my turn signal indicators are on the blink (no pun intended).

It sits in the rain all day (uncovered), I drive home, I turn on the turn indicator, and instead of blinking as normal, both signal indicators on the speedometer glow. The next morning, after sitting in the garage, blinkers worked normally. Again, in the rain all day, blinkers not blinking.

I seem to remember with my old VW (Type III) that a burned out bulb in the turn signals causes the exact same symptom. Could it be that simple to correct this problem in the 911?

The project continues . . .

Its raining a lot here in good old Germany, so I am facing this subject almost once a year.
Generally, the grond connection to the indicator bulbs (esp. in the front) are the problem. Both bulb housing and sockets are slightly corroding. With age, also the springs in the socket get "weak".
To fix, remove all indicator bulbs and clean bolth bulbs and sockets with sandpaper.
Dismout grond strap from the battery or remove fuse to avoid a short and then CAREFULLY bend the springs of the sockets back (towards you).
Apply few clean grease or WD40 and reinstall bulbs and battery connection/fuse.
Try your indicators. If still not working, try to "rattle" at the bulbs to get an improvement.
If this is not working, either your connection to the light housing is bad cooroded), or the indicator Relay is bad ("hangs" with increased humidity.

Take some time and the fixation should be easy.

Good Luck,jens

From rainy SoCal to rainy Germany, thank you! I'll give it a try this weekend, and hopefully report this little bug fixed.
