Alot to check here... have you changed anything recently? I just had my ignition/fuel injection system gone over by a Porsche mechanic who knows what he's doing and he found a few things wrong. How comfortable are you with the CIS and the methods for testing the pressures? Do you know the location and proper testing techniques for the cold start valve, warm up regulator, fuel distributor, etc...? Ther's alot to look at, but I would start with the basics (spark? fuel? pressures?) then tray to remove the variables one at a time. Troubleshooting by replacing components willy-nilly will get expensive fast!

If the '74 is like the 73.5, make sure the micro-switch is activated when you pull the hand throttle all the way up....This provides the extra fuel needed while cranking a cold engine.

Yep, the 73.5 and '74 are "unique" because they both have the throttle microswitch in the circuit that controls the CSV and they both have a throttle control pressure regulator next to the throttle body. Check your wires and hoses and be sure they are all connected. A cracked vacuum hose can also wreak havoc in the cold start scenario.
