Prepping for Parade - MFI linkage needed HELP!!!
I was getting the car ready for Parade next week, puttin' the full tune on it so it would be running sweet for the road trip down to Portland. Following, and continually repeating to myself, "Check, Measure, Adjust", I tuned up the car last night to get ready to adjust the MFI today: valve adjust, timing, dwell, ...
Everything was going good until I got to the part about adjusting the linkage for the throttle bodies. All of the linkage had at least one of the ends seized and wouldn't budge. Some diligent application of Liquid Wrench and patience freed up all put 2 of them. Tried heat to no avail. Ultimately two of the rods were casualties: one twisted off, one stripped threads. So, here's the plea: where can I get replacement linkage parts by the end of the week so I can make the trip to Portland? The casualties were both on the right side and were the linkages that run from the center throttle body to the forward and rear throttle bodies. The car is a 1973 911S w/ the stock mechanical fuel injection set up. Any recommendations for sources would be greatly appreciated. |

I don't have any MFI linkage pieces but Chris Powell in Bellevue might have,.... I'd also post this on the Early S Registry Forum, too. |
Call Henry Schmidt. He has used originals and some new, non-concours WURTH ends.

Thanks for the replies, I'll check with Chris at lunch. I work about 5 miles away from his shop.
John - do you have a phone number or other contact information for Henry? |
Here it is 760) 728-3062

Found the parts. Richard at DC Automotive came through and they will be here in 2 days on the brown truck.
Not trying to steal any business from our host, who is my primary source for parts. But for these NLA parts, DC Automotive seems to have a lot of stuff. I haven't used them before but my experience with them on this adventure has been good so far. |
They are typically very expensive. I needed a used 3.2 throttle body. I called them last week for one they said 275. I can buy a new one wholesale for 350. But on nla stuff and you gotta have it what are you going to do
