Anyone have the cruise control stick? Here is what happens, I am going in a range of 50 mph and hit the lever to set cruise and the car accellerates so I hit the brake to cancell. 1987 carrera.

Might be the brain part of the system and not the stalk.

You could try to clean the contacts on the stalk though if you really thought that was the issue.

First remove the clamshell surrounding the steering wheel and the cruise stalk should be fairly easy to remove from there.

I have an 86 with cruise that does the same thing. Setting the cruise feels about like flooring the throttle.

Please let the board know if you get a fix for yours sot others (i.e. me) can benefit from your experience...
