Transmission cover leak

Changed my transmission oil over the weekend. I now have a slight leak around the transmission cover plate for the shift lever support fork. I used a new O.E.M gasket with a thin coat of oil. Cleaned off the old gasket. Added a few more ft./lbs. of torque and it still leaks.

Any aftermarket silicone gaskets available? Use form a gasket? More torque?

Also, is Swepco 201 really that good to justify the cost? I probably got to drain the oil again anyway.

Glenn,

I think Kevin (KTL, who has build a few tranny's in the area for the locals) uses a gasket spray on the OE gasket. He's had good success with it. Shoot him an e-mail or PM.

Side note: I keep seeing the 996 (and the AMG) in front of your building, but I'm always running late for one thing or another...so I have not been able to stop in. Maybe I'll just roll though the parking lot and smoke the tires to say "hi." ...look for a black Carrera making a run for it when the cop at the White Hen hears my tires and sees the tire smoke

Edit: When I work with mating surfaces that rely on those thin paper gaskets, I like to run 800 grit sand paper over the aluminum surfaces to get rid of some of the old material and smooth the surfaces. Worked well for me so far.

Hey Souk!
How are you? Have you seen Chris lately? I have not made any PCA events this summer-lots of teenage daughter issues.
Stop in sometime and say hello.
Glenn

Hey Glenn,

I've been busy this year too. Haven't been to any events yet or hung around with the Porsche guys much...and work has me performing my manager's job and my own...not fun when you are just a pee-on like me

Best of luck with the teenage daughter....I'll pop in sometime.
