Tire pressure questions
Hey everybody!
I have a 1970 911T. I was doing some spirited driving, and I felt like something was funny with the tires, so I pulled over and checked it out. The tread was fine, so I checked the pressures. They were all pretty inconsistant. Driver's side rear was approaching 40 psi, driver's side front was approaching 30, passenger's side front was 25, passenger's side rear was 30. I got relatively the same numbers yesterday after driving the same road. I'm pretty confused about this. I had been driving for around 20 miles. When I last added air to the tires, the fronts were at 29 psi, and the rears were at 32 psi. This was after some regular speed driving time. Today I realized that the manual called for 29/32 with cold tires, but I don't think that explains my situation. I filled up the tires yesterday. I'm not aware whether or not there are more turns orieanted left or right, but I'm assuming there is an almost equal amount of both left and right turns. I also feel like the driver's rear side has warm air coming out from under the car (which would explain why that tire has so much more pressure!) I feel like the inconsistant tire pressures are affecting handling, but I don't know if that makes any sense. If it does, can you guys give me ideas why this might be happening, and how to fix this? Thank you very much! |
