Wide Body Non Turbo
I'm aware that Porsche built some wide body non turbo cars in the 80s, and I have also heard some were built in the 70s. True or not?

There was a guy on the old porschephiles mailing list (probably circa 1995 or so) that claimed to have a 1977 *factory* widebody. He said that he was not the first owner, but did some research and found out that his car was actually turbo-bodied at the factory, but had the 2.7 liter engine and everything else.
He was in Iceland, IIRC. Mike

In the 80s you could spec the M491 option for your Carrera. It would give you widebody, 930 brakes and suspension but not the turbo engine.
It was quite an expensive option. In the US it was called turbo-look. In Europe Super-sport. I am not aware of any official NA wide body in the 70s. |

I believe I've also heard that some wide-body cars were built before the official cars through the Special Werks dept. With Enough Money Porsche will work with you.
