'84 fuchs on a '74?
i know, i know, another bloody wheel question....this is a technical question though. anyone know if factory fuchs, front/7x16's & rear/8x16's off an '84 carrera will work on a '74 911? i know '74's typically came with 6x15's and 7x15's but it seems i read somewhere that they can be upgraded to larger fuchs.
thank you very much. jeff |

Well, it depends ... on your car and the fenders ... whether the 7" rears will fit or not! The best thing is to try them and see ... assuming the wheels are available to 'test fit' ... my best SWAG (guess) is that they will. You didn't say whether the car in question is a 'standard' or 'S' or Carrera, but if it is the later, then it is a definite YES!

My total guess is that the 8's would not fit on the rear of a pre-'78, stock fendered car. I don't know about the fronts.
[Actually, I re-read your second post, which suggests its a 74 Carrera, rather than just a plain '74. I don't know what kind of flares the '74 carrera has, but I think its similar to the SC,in which case the 8s should fit. My SC has 16 x 7s with 205/55 on the front, and it comes very close to rubbing on one side. the 8s are not even close to rubbing on my SC.] Brian [This message has been edited by Brian Kumamoto (edited 02-27-2000).] |

My 74S has Carrera flares and I also have the 7x16 and 8x16 Fuchs no problems at all.
