A novice 1968 Porsche owner

Hello This is Diyman25 from SCA. After dream owning porschce 911 for more then 20 years . my first porsche finally arive AUG 03 from texas. I was very exciting to see a big semi pull place "My motorsports" in Covina SCA at 11pm. but here come to the trouble. I cant get the car start, I can it run for sec but the car just die. I guess I flood the carb!! and me and two of transporter guy have hard time push the car off the transport truck. I guess Brake size too. After about 1hr of hard labor. finally push the car into the shop and I put the car on the lift right away. as I think the rear brake size. after ton of WD40 and some pry bar finally free the rotor

and find some more trouble. Rust dam. I dont think is too serious but still a bit of pain. and seller of this car promise the car get straight body no rust, finally get the car start after take off plugs and blow off the gas, Dam trouble again. the car keep poping gear. what da.....

After owning and builf serveral Sports/Track and race car before {most import,RX-7, Lotus Super 7) the prosche is very new exp for me, first all the pedal seen to be off set to extreme right. and hard to feel if you step on brake or clutch. the thing I cant used too is shifter cant not find what gear is what,

My target of this porsche

make it into reliable Trackable street car, althougt this car get weld in cages throught to engine bay and trunk. and race fuel cell, but I just cant afroad another race car. sepcial porsche

I guess you cant really call it a good runing condion with hard sart, size brake. pop gear. and also the body. Dam I should knew this before how can a car in the east cost could have rust free body!!

to all the forum member any suggestion any thing I should put in my to do list first ?

Did you not have a look at this car before purchase?
If you have rust on places you can see, then you more than likely have alot more you can't.

I would guess you have real structual problems with rust in this car. If you are not familiar enough yourself to recognize what you have, you better get someone who is.
Assuming you get it running you shouldn't drive this car until it has been inspected closely.
